Max announced on Wednesday that the HBO series “The Last of Us” will be available to stream in American Sign Language (ASL). Season 2 premieres on April 13.

Notably, this is the first time HBO’s original content will be accessible for streaming in ASL on the service, representing a step towards inclusivity for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers. Additionally, Max offers ASL versions of “Barbie,” “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.”

(Disney+ is another major streamer that offers ASL options, including for Marvel’s “Ant-Man.”)

Beginning March 31, the first season of “The Last of Us” will also be available to stream in ASL, allowing deaf viewers to catch up on the show ahead of the new season’s release.

The ASL versions will be performed by “Coda” actor Daniel Durant and ASL performer Leila Hanaumi.
