Telegram Game Farm Frens Announces Blockchain Migration After Airdrop Disaster

On its newly released roadmap, the pseudonymous founder of the Telegram-based game Farm Frens, known as Kaizen, said that they will relaunch on the LINE messenger app as the “Season 2 with major improvements” after experiencing trouble on the token generation event (TGE) of $FREN.

The launch of Farm Frens on LINE will happen in the second quarter of 2025, as the team will first resolve the issues that occurred on its in-game token’s TGE, improve on OnlyFrens wallet, and host the Frensurance payouts to $FREN stakers.

What Happened on $FREN TGE?

After the game’s snapshot happened on January 20, the Farm Frens team had technical issues with all major components of the TGE, including issues on token allocations, claiming, and staking.

Kaizen admitted these issues and said that “we fucked up.” It should be noted that the airdrop was delayed because $FRENS is built on top of Ethereum L2 Base, but Telegram announced earlier this year that Telegram-based games and projects should be on The Open Network.

First Issue: Allocation

There were players who complained that they did not receive enough rewards they were expecting.

The founder explained that there are multiple reasons for this case, that the player either:

  • Did not tap the “Connect Wallet” button in the in-game settings menu prior to the announced snapshot date.
  • Was flagged for cheating or botting.
  • Did not earn any $NUTS, $DIRT, or $DUNG.
  • Logged in to the OnlyFrens wallet with a different Telegram account versus the account that was used to play Farm Frens.
  • Was an Everseed NFT holder that linked an unrecognized Solana wallet to the OnlyFrens wallet.

Second Issue: Claim Errors

The second issue was with claiming $FREN rewards, as recipients experienced claim errors.

According to Kaizen, the reason was their server was designed to perform the claiming transactions on behalf of users because the team decided to subsidize gas fees.

The result was a long queue on Base, as the network can only perform one transaction per block, and each takes several seconds each to validate. The founder admitted that they were not prepared because their tests on their local nodes were successful and did not consider this scenario.

To solve this issue on the day of TGE, Kaizen explained that they deployed a queuing solution in real-time and had to ship several improvements in succession in order to stop it from failing, which would restart the server.

“Separately, we faced another technical issue with airdrop claims. As our front-end was making frequent calls out to our third-party RPC node provider, Alchemy, for data, we got throttled. This resulted in users not seeing their $FREN token balance update in our wallet after claiming their airdrop. As increasingly more users refreshed our app to check their balance, it unfortunately made the throttling worse.”

Third Issue: Staking Errors

There were reports from some users that they were being unable to stake their full amount of their rewards despite having enough $ETH for gas.

Kaizen stressed that the reason behind this issue is their front-end rounding bug for the amount of $FREN displayed.

For instance, a recipient received 100.005 $FREN, but Farm Frens’ UI showed they have 100.01 $FREN. Then, as the recipient would try to stake 100.01, the error would show that they did not have enough tokens.

The founder also clarified how staking $FREN works:

  • 90 days staked = 1x rewards
  • 180 days staked = 2x rewards
  • 360 days staked = 4x rewards
  • 1080 days staked = 12x rewards

Furthermore, Kaizen encouraged players that if there is still any bug, they can try to report it by answering this form

Other Clarifications

Kaizen reminded $FREN owners who were disappointed because the token was listed on Uniswap and not on centralized exchanges that the team purposefully did it so they could accumulate more allocation at a lower market cap.

The other clarifications, meanwhile, on the tokenomics of $FREN:

  • Total Supply: 88,888,888 $FREN
  • “Investors” and “Team” will be fully locked for more than a year.
  • “Ecosystem Expansion” is reserved for future CEX listings and related support.
  • Any unclaimed “Fren Community” tokens will be repurposed for “Future Community” airdrop rewards.
