Mark Zuckerberg’s charity has told its employees it will remain committed to DEI even as Meta eliminates its DEI programs, The Guardian reports

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), founded and co-led by Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, reassured its employees after many began expressing concerns about recent changes at Meta as the company scales back its DEI commitments.

In response, The Guardian reports that CZI’s HR leader Marck Gundacker told employees that “Meta and CZI are and will remain separate organizations with entirely different and independent commitments. Decisions made at Meta do not impact how we operate at CZI. Like in this case, Meta’s changes to its DEI efforts does [sic] not impact ours.”

Chan is regarded as CZI’s day-to-day leader, but Zuckerberg is also very present in the organization. Yet CZI also has made moves that have echoed changes at Meta, such as conducting layoffs and ending its remote work policy, The Guardian reported.

CZI did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
