CoinEx Charity, the non-profit organization of the crypto platform CoinEx, announced that it has installed the first known Starlink satellite in the country as part of its Starlink Program.
What’s the significance: According to CoinEx Charity, the Starlink Program aims to empower communities by improving access to education, economic opportunities, essential government services, and even crypto adoption.
Key Details: Enrique B. Magalona (E.B. Magalona), a second-class municipality in the province of Negros Occidental with around 64,000 population recorded in the 2020 consensus, is the first recipient of the Starlink Program.
- The Deployment: The Starlink equipment was deployed in the municipality hall on November 22, 2024.
- The Partnership: E.B. Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon led the signing of the Deed of Donation and Deployment and was witnessed by the Municipal Secretary, the IT Department Head, and CoinEx Charity community volunteers.
- The Education Initiative: After the installment of the satellite, the CoinEx Charity, with the invitation of Malacon, also hosted seminars about the benefits and opportunities within the digital industry.
- According to the non-profit organization, the education initiative aims to raise awareness about how technology, including blockchain and cryptocurrency, can create lasting positive impacts for the municipality.
